PROTEST AGAINST KITCHENER FILM. By Telegraph-Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, November 15. There were sensational incidents at a. London theatre when a Kitchener film was produced privately. Tho play attempts to show that Kitchener was betrayed by a young British Staff Officer. who was in love with the German widow of another British officer, who had been killed in the war. The woman supposedly induced him to disclose the date and hour of Kitchener's departure from England. Miss Kitchener, a sister of Lord Kitchener, rose in indignation and said: “ ! protest against a British officer bci ig shown succumbing to a spy. Politicians may betray their country, but not British officers.’-’ General G. M. MacDonagh rose up in another part of the theatre and similarly protested. A member of the House of Commons, who is an ex-officer, also objected to tho film. The audience received the play indignantly, and the film is beiug drastically amended.
