AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
1 MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Council of the Canterbury Automobile Association met last evening:: present—Messrs It. W. Lochliead (president), F. W. Johnston. J. It. Brown. D. M’Millan. F. D. Sargent. W. H. Nicholson. N. M. Orbell, J. Wood. J. O. Coop, J. S. Hawkea and P. S. Nicholls. and Dr P. S. Foster. The financial statement showed general receipts £497. and credit balance £360. The building account showed payment amounting to £ll9. It was decided to refer to the Finance Committee a request from the Public Works Department for the association’s contribution of £IOO towards the work carried out at Foster's cutting on the Waipara-Cheviot Road. The council agreed to support a request to the Government that Crib Creek and the Charwell Fiver on the Kaikoura Road should be bridged. Messrs Lochhead and Nicholls were appointed to represent the at a meeting in the City Council Chambers tomorrow evening to consider the Motor Vehicles Bill. The Roads’ Committee reported that it had asked the Selwyn, Springs and Methven County Councils whether they would contribute towards the future -upkeep of the Selwyn ford; that it had drawn the attention of the Christchurch City Council to the state of Opawa, Road: that the Railway Department had been requested to instal warning bells at the Weka Pass railway crossing: and that it had agreed to bear one-third of the cost of bridging water-races between Rolleston and Burnham. The report was adopted.
