November V,Oex*itt defeated Ripley by tliree .lengths in the race for tho championship of New South Wales. Tho race xvas marred by two collisions. The men were on even terms for Hie first, quarter of a mile, when M'Devitl became inclined to hern Ripley close to tlie shore. The latter moved out. aml a collision occured. Both stopped and appealed to tlie umpire, Al’Donald, who ordered them to continue. Ripley had the best of the start, but .M'Devitt soon overhauled him and xvas leading by five lengths a? Cabarita. Ripley spurted and overhauled him at Henley and bumped M’Devitt's stem. Both appealed, but the umpire giving rio instructions M'Devit! resumed rowing* and xvon easily, Ripley easing up. In vjew of the mishaps it is expected that another race xvill he arranged.
