SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY.
A TARANAKI SCHEME. (Per. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 4. A new departure m the matter of am electro-generator on a large scale was made to-day with proposals to tho Clifton County Council by an engineer, Mr AV. D. Wilkinson, who has secured certain rights to use -a coal area on the lank of the Mokau River. The idea is to install two turbo-alternators, each of 5000 lioree-power, driven by fuel on the spot, atnd capable of producing 13,000 kilowatt©, with an extension up i o 26.0(X) kilowatts, tho reticulation to fit over part of "YYaitomo County and practically the whole of Clifton County. linking up with hydro-electric stations and ultimately forming part of the Government scheme. Details are to be supplied, and the Clifton County Council will forward them to the Public Work© Department, when, if approved, steps will be taken to form it Power Board and raise the money. Tho promoters say that power could be supplied within two years, the cost comparing more than favourably with Lake Coleridge.
