MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.

(Per Pres* Association.) AUCKLAND, November 4. Four Fijians, John Frank Peckham, Julian Florian, Charles M’Goon and David Lazarus, were charged with the murder of a Chinese, Du Moy, as the result of a street affray. Evidence was given of a general fight, one witness being under the impression that tho Fijians weie the aggressors. One said he saw M’Goon strike deceased, and a Chinese identified him as the assailant. The Magistrate said there was no evidence to support a murder charge against any of the accused. The charge against M’Goon was reduced to manslaughter, and he was committed for trial. Peckham and Lazarus were charged with assault and fined £6 and £2. Florian was discharged, one witness having said h© was too drunk to fight- _______
