SOUTH ISLAND MOTOR UNION.
—♦ MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The Executive Committee of the South Island Motor Union met last evening; present—Messrs F. TV. Johnston (in the chair), 0. W. Hervey, J. Iv. Brown, N. M. Orbell, J. S. Hawkes, TV. H. Benson, F. V. Thomas and TV. L. Mi neon. The Ashburton Motor Cycling Club’s application for affiliation was granted. T.t : wan statod that the club had sixty-one | members. The Waimate Autoraohole Association | wrote agreeing to the proposal that a i quarterly meeting of the union should he j held in Waimate. The union resolved to express strong j disapproval of the clause in the explosive j goods regulations making the minimum j distance 40ft from another building for ! the storage of petrol in limited quantities • by private motorists. The union suggested : that the minimum distance should be 30? t. : Messrs Johnston and Hawkes were ap- I pointed delegates to attend a conference j called by the City Council to discuss the j Motor Vehicles Bill.
