LOAN FOR WORKERS’ HOMES.

£SOOO APPROVED. At the City Council last night a letter was received from the superintendent of the State Advances Offices, stating that the council’s application for a loan of £SOOO for the purpose of tho erection of workers’ dwellings had been granted. A special meeting of the council will b© held at- 9 p.m. on November 14. to commence proceedings to make a Special Order to raise the loan. • , , Councillor F. R. Cooke suggested that the Council should have started building fifteen houses and then left them to the Government to pay for thorn. Councillor H. T. Armstrong said that the money would not be paid over until it was spent. IT© moved that the building committee should prepare plans for presentation at the special meeting. The motion was carried.
