CLUB AND BARRACKS GOSSIP. (By THE ORDERLY.'*) The. syllabuaof November training foe Cadets of the Fifth (Cadet) Battalion C.R.. shows the ordinary circuit training for the weeks ending November 5 and November 19. There will be no parade during carnival week on account of the motor exhibition. For the week ending November 26, the com pany will proceed to North Park to carry ont platoon and company drill with arms. A parade will be held on Monday, November 28, for A and J> Companies. This is rhe last parade for this calendar year. In accordance with the new syllabus of training, the whole of the permanent staff, both th© N.Z.S.C. and the N.Z.P.S. will then proceed to Trentham camp for a fifteendays’ refresher course. After that rh<* annual leave will be taken. The training of Oadete wil! commence again with ordinary training on January 30- All Cadets are warned that during thi= long vacation they must adviee the area officer, in writing, of any change of address, and also resume training on their parade night during the week ending February 4, 1922, without further notice. A strenuous fifteen-days* course ba* been arranged at Trentham camp for the permanent staff. There will be assembled the whole of the Southern Command, and possibly tlie Northern and Central Conintands a 6 well. In addition to tho refresher course, advantage will no doubt be taken to discuss and solve any problems which have arisen iu carrying out the new* scheme of defence. The Timaru Boys’ High School sports were held on Saturday, when the race for the South. Island Cadet Championship, 100yds (Craigie Cup) was held Two members of the Fourth (Cadet) Battalion, C.R., and one of the Fifth Battalion proceeded to Timaru to compete. The race was won by Collins (Timaru Cadets) in 10 2-Ssec. which is very fast time. On November 5 at the Masonic Hall. Gloucester Street, officers of the C.R.. N.Z.E.F., will asemble to hold their third annual reunion dinner. Thi* function Mas the outcome of the reunion dinner held at the Monico. London. in 1919. It is hoped that it will continue to be an annual carnival week function in Christchurch, when mem bers of the Canterbury Battalion wh«» served together in the field can. renew old acquaintances, and once again fighi their old battles. It is interesting to note how widespread the officers have now become. Some 3000 invitations Mere sent out by the committee and on carefully ascertaining the addresses of all members it was found that it included addresses from as far north a« AVhangarei and as tar south as Invercargill. Many also have gone to Australia. and some even are now resident in America. An infantry course for officer? and N.C.O.'s of infantrv regiments (Terri torials) in the Southern Command is at present being held at Burnham camp and will conclude on November 3. The weather has been much better lor thi* course than for the previous one. and consequently the syllabus of training has been carried out in its entirety. A high standard of efficiency has been, reached, and those who obtained for Sunday stated how much they a.p preciated tlie course aud bow m'-ich they considered their units would beue fit by their experiences at the camp A casual course will be held at Burn ham from January IS to 20 (inclusive*, and there will also h© a course for senior N.C.O.’s of Cadet units, lasting fourteen days.
