The Hon Mr M'Girr, Minister of Public Health, has announced that the Government intends to discontinue State aid for hospitals. A scheme was being devised lor compulsory contribution by employers and employees, so that patients would not feel that they were tire object of charity. The Riverina new State movement lias decided that instead of endeavouring to amalgamate with Victoria, steps be taken by the residents of the Monaro electorate in New South Wales to join with those of East Gippsland and Victoria for the purpose of forming a new state.
