BAPTIST UNION CONFERENCE.
[From Ovk Corrsspont>ent.3 .WANGANUI, October 17. The Baptist Conference received live Indian missionaries on furlough. Several missionary reports showed the difficulty occasioned by the non-co-operation movement, yet striking work had been accomplished. Two new recruits were accepted for the Indian service, and receipts for the year were reported to la? £SIOO. Tlio Baptisi Women s Missionary organisation gave £1330. The veteran missionary, MisBeckingsale, was sent faith bv crowded meeting for her twentyeighth year of service. (Per Prt'sr Association.) WANGANUI, October 17. At the Baptist Conference to-day it was decided: “That with a view tc stimulating missionary interest among men it should ho an instruction to the missionary executive to tako> into early consideration the project of organising the manhood of our churches into n laymen’s missionary union.” It was resolved that the t: Messen ger ” }>e incorporated with the “ New Zealand Bapt st,” and that the mana ger of the “ Baptist ” should be re quested to arrange for at least threi pages to be devoted to missionary news. The Rev S. Gray was elected secretary and treasurer and Mr Stanley Jeukin was re-elected editor of the “ issionary Messenger.”
