MARRIED BY REGISTRAR.
AN INCREASING PERCENTAGE. Marriages by the Registrar in lus office are becoming more frequent in Christchurch, to judge by figures for the September quarter just closed. These show that 18.8 per cent of the marriages in tlie Christchurch district were performed by the Registrar, as rgainst 14.5 per cent in the September quarter of 1920. Tlie figures for the September quarters of 1920 and 1921 for the Christchurch district are as follows ;
Of the total marriages in 1920, fortysix were performed by the Registrar in his office. In 1921. for the same period, fifty-eight marriages were performed in the officeThe figures for tlie nine months ended ori September 30 were as follows Births .... 1801 Deaths .... 861 Marriages . . . 1016 Of the marriages during the nine months 168., or 16.5 per cent of the whole, were performed b$ the Registrar in his office.
