ANTI-FRENCH FEELING.

PREVALENT IN ITALY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, September 28. The Paris correspondent, of the “ Daily Express ” states that Marshal Fayolle and a party of French officers and troops visited Italy to attend the unveiling of a monument to French soldiers killed on the Italian front. The mission received a hostile reception at Milan, where it was generally hooted, and the officers were maltreated in the streets. The gravest . incidents occurred at Venice. The city was generously beflagged, but no French colours were visible. The Trench troops displayed the tricolour, whereupon the populace hooted and groaned. Men and women broke the cordon of police and chased Marshal Fayolle into the Campanile, shouting “Down with France I” The disturbances continued for hours. When an Italian mission visited France on a similar errand it had an enthusiastic reception.
