The marriage takes place shortly of Mr Leslie Robert King, eldest son of Mr and 31rs Robert King, Waipara, North Canterbury, to Miss Margaret Duncan, only daughter of Mrs Duncan and the late Mr William Duncan, Round Hill, Loburn. 31rs E. A busy evening was spent by tho ladies of tho Avonside division of the St John Ambulance Brigade at their meeting last night, when 3lrs S. A Watkins, tho lady superintendent, presided over a. good attendance. Different brunches of first aid and homo nursing formed the subjects of the practical work, and the competition squads were given further instruction in transport. Three neiy members were proposed, and an election for the position of secretary resulted in the return of Miss D. Pearce. To judge by the flowers that were coming into the city early this morning in baskets, in taxis, in motor-cars, 'literally by the armful, the Creche and Kindergarten Association should benefit by a substantial sum towards the end of the day. One almost expected it to rain flowers—daffodils, primroses, jonquils, violets—from an aeroplane overhead; nor would this have been a bad idea—a yellow airship,, descending in the centre of the city, stacked to tho brim with yellow really the only conveyance I>3’ which they did not arrive. The Royal Christchurch Musical Society issued invitations to the musical world to meet at tho Bereeford Tea rooms yesterday to say farewell to Mischa Levitzki, who left by tho ferry steamer last night. On Wednesday evening a very enjoyable ct At Home *’ was held in the Cadena by the Master Painters’ Association. The arrangements were in the hands of a committee consisting of Messrs Buchanan. Sey and Luimnis. Dancing and cards were indulged in, and in a guessing tho ladies’ prize was won by Mrs Lee, tho men’s prize by Mr W. Obom, and the consolation prizes by Miss Ford and 31 r F. Hebden. The prizes were presented by Mr E. J. Bell, president of the association. Items were contributed by Mrs Buchanan, 3liss O. Grantham and Mr Wylies. Several extras wore played by Mr Colin Campbell (concertina.), and 3J.r> Skinner (banjo). Supper was served in ad adjoining room, the tables being prettily decorated with spring flowers. Those present included : Mosdames E. J. Bell, Hebden, Sey, Lummis, D. Lee, G. Lee, Collins’ Francis, 3loore, Greig, Buchanan, Gallagher, Keys, Bowden, Rodda, Earwa.kor, Ford, Hammond, Kilner.
