MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association met this afternoon, Mr R. E- Alexander presiding over si large attendance. Leave of absence for three months was err an feed to Air John Deans. Tlie Canterbury Progress League wrote asking the association’s co-operation in a. tour of Nelson and Marlborough. The letter stated that it was intended to start as soon as possible, and set forth the importance of cultivating friendly relations with neighbouring provinces. . , ' It was decided that members who wished to take part in the tour should send their names to the secretary. The New Zealand Council of Agriculture wrote on the proposal to hold a Royal Show, asking for the association’s opinion. Tho letter stated that it was proposed to hold the show annually, one year in the North Island, and the next year in the South Island. Tlie chairman, in reply to Mr N. M. Orbell, said that a Royal Show would be a national show subsidised by the Government. The title might be somewhat misleading. The association’s subscription would be about £‘2o s» year. Mr R. AY. Loch head moved that the association should'endorse the principle of holding a Royal Show, and of the committee’s r ecom m end a t ioas. The motion was seconded and carried. (Proceeding.)
