WOMAN VENDOR CHARGED. Milk which was not I'reßh when purchased from a milk vendor by an inspector under the Sale of Foods and Drugs Act, formed the basis of g. charge preferred against Mrs Kosa Robertson, of Lincoln Road, Addington, which was heard at the Magistrate’s Court to-day before Mr S. E. M’Carthy, S.M. The defendant pleaded guilty. The analysis showed that the milk was stale and therefore unfit for sale as food. Witness purchased a sample of the milk and sent it to the Government Analyst to be analysed. The result of the analysis showed that the mill-: was unsatisfactory. When witness learned the result of the analysis he visited the defendant’s premises and inspected the dairy and found everything clean and satisfactory. The defendant then infromed him that she had been ill for* a week or so and had to leave the conduct of the business to the childien. She attnbxitecl the unsatisfactory state of the milk to some carelessness in washing the cans. Defendant said the inspector had stated the facts correctly. The inspector said there was nothing known against the defendant previousIv. He believed it was a mistake in the handling of the milk. Defendant asked the inspector if the trouble might have ben ,cau«ed through putting fresh morning’s milk into cans containing some of the previous day’s roi'k. The inspector replied that he did not think so. He believed the defendant herself had not been responsible for the trouble. The Magistrate said the facts were not of a serious nature. The defendant would be convicted and ordered to pay Court costs.
