VIOLET DAY.

For two deserving associations each connected with the welfare of children. “ Violet Day ” will be held on Wednesday next—the Plunket Society and the St Saviour's Orphanage. So far tho enthusiastic committee who have the arrangements in hand have met with generous responses to any of their requests for assistance, and the financial result promises well. In the Cathedral grounds a certain number of stalls will be erected, and various other stalls will be erected in the picture theatre foyers, besides which there will l>e fair violet vendors all over the city. The appeal of tho violet is felt by ail, and with the good object of the sale, it should jirove irresistible. The stallholders are to be as follow :—Produce, Mrs A. H. Bristed, Mrs Philip Greenwood, Mrs Algar Williams, Airs .Henderson Begg, Mrs G. E. Rhodes, Air H. L. Bowker, Air AY. B. Fox and Air W r . Robinson; flowers. Alesdames C. A. Tobm and S. S. Blaekburue; sweets, Mrs H. T. J. Thacker and Aliss L. Ileywood; butchers, Air W. T. Robin- 1 son ; cakes, Alesdames H. Thompson, L. Banks and Chilton; general. Mrs H. N. Wright. These will all be in the Cathedral grounds. Other stall-holders will be Airs J. F. Duncan, in charge of flowers at Everybody’s; Mrs J. S. Thomson, sweets; Airs C. Raphael, Airs R. W. Anderson. Airs U. Clark, Airs La wry, Airs C. R. Beadel. Airs S. Lawrence, Mrs IT. R. Smith, Airs H. Holland, Airs F. J. Poulton, Airs Richards and Airs AI. Bethell.
