So far the Springboks have only been beaten by one provincial team. : Therefore, the result of thdir match against Auckland to-morrow will be awaited with. very keen interest Auckland will put a fairly strong team in the field, including Tfwerson. the exLeaguo crack, Grierson* and C. Badoley. L. Weston, an ex-New Zealan 1 representative, Crawford, B. Finlayson and Muir will also bo in the backs. The forwards aro:—Nicholas (rover), Lomas, Iresize, Fletcher, M’Times, T Finlayson, Alii liken. Auckland beat the 1908 Anglo-Welsh, team by 11 points to nil. Otago will not be able to send a strong team against' Southland, and tlieir chance of carrying the shield to Dunedin does not look bright. Duncan and Richardson, the all-Black forwards, have to go north, and Perry will stand down through injury. Canterbury will play the winners for the shield later on. The senior club championship of Auckland lies between Grammar School Old Boys and Grafton. They will play off on August 27. as a curtain raiser to the second test. CANTERBURY v. SOUTH CANTERBURY. Stewart (forwards), not being available. THE CANTERBURY TEAM. SEVERAL ALTERATIONS. There have been several alterations in the Canterbury team which is to play South Canterbury on Saturday afternoon. C. R. Murray and L. Peterson, forwards, will not play, and will be replaced by Dr Campbell and O. Turpin. Jackson and A. Henry have been selected as emergencies in the forwards.
