NATIVES PROTEST
AGAINST NEW POLL TAX. By Telepraph—Pvf-p« Association—Ccpvright. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received August 19. 9.10 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, August IS. The native and coloured population of Johannesburg is strongly protesting against the new poll tax passed by the Provincial Council. A meeting resolved not to pay the poll tax until the legality of taxation without representation had been tested. It was decided to ask the Government to prosecute one of their number as a test case.
