WEEPING THOUSANDS.
LAST TRIBUTE TO CARUSO. LONDON, August o. A message from Naples states that Caruso’s body has l>een embalmed, and is lying in the Chapelle Ardente. The King has authorised the funeral service in the church belonging to the Crown. It is stated that Caruso, in 1919, made a. will in favour of his wife, his brothers, and his natural children. Tire widow had official seals placed on his personal effects on behalf of' his legitimate daughter Gloria. The correspondent of the “ Daily Mail ” at Rome states that the sculptor Cifariello, an intimate friend of Caruso, has made a death mask, the operation being filmed. The Chapelle Ardente has been visited by thousands, many weeping passionately. The people regard his death ns a national calamity.
