Climie) yesterday receive*-] the following telegram from the Secretary of the Post and Department (Mr 0. B. Morris):— *' Although it is quite possible that in a few isolated cases the Deportment may have to contribute towards the cost of mail services, it. is regretted that the league’s offer cannot be accepted by the Department unless such offer is made unconditionally.” To this Mr Climie replied, on behalf of the league : “ We fail to understand the Department's hesitation. The league’s offer was made unconditionally, pending the Department’s consideration of policy, and can safely be accepted. The league would only expect reasonable remuneration for those services, which in the ordinary course would have to he provided by the Department, and nothing more.”
