ON THE LAWN.

DRESSES AT ADDINGTON. The warm weather yesterday attracted a large number of racing enthusiasts to Addington for the second day of the August meeting of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, and the members* sttfnd tilled. As on the first day costumes held sway, and again small hats were in vogue. Though the atmosphere was not as clear as on the first day, and the mountains were not wj thickly covered with snow, the scene across the plains was a pleasant on©, with the well kept lawns and flower gardens in the foreground. Amongst those present were noticed Mrs J. S. Williams, wife of the vicepresident. She was wearing a tailored costume of navy blue gabardine, smartened with a pretty rest, and a brow u fur and hat. She was accompanied by her sister, Miss Isobel Rutherford, who wore a navy costume and navy blue hat, the hat being trimmed with bonna, ribbon. Mrs Thacker (the Mayoress) wore a very handsome uavy blue costume, braided a la mi'litaire with scarlet a.nd black, and softened with boa-ver fur, and a black bat. Mrs Cecil Ollivier was in bottle green stockinette embroidered in grey wool, a silver grey stole, and a. green and grey hat-. Mrs W. H. No ft on, elegant navy blue coat frock smartly trimmed vrth military braid and small black buttons, a chic black ba.t stitched with silver oyer which hung an embroidered veil. Sho wa3 accompanied by Miss Norton and Miss Phyllis Bloomfield, both of whom were in fawn. Airs Huie, mastic-coloured velour cloth, grey furs, and a. black picture hat. Mrs 15. G. Aliss Rita Roach, very becoming tailored costume of navy blue and white striped serge, and smart black hat. Round her neck she wore a * 4 choker * y collar of light grey fur. • | Airs Frank Clark, light tawncloth costume, the coat showing beneath it a jumper-tunic of Liberty silk in shades of jade, red and black, the accompanying black , hat having touches of colour to match the jumper. Cogan, modish navy blue costume with rovers of putty coloured stockinette, a pale pink crepe de chine front, and a. smart navy bat. Airs J. S. Guthrie, wine coloured costume trimmed with mole, and a becoming brown shaw hat- finished off with a narrow haiiging veil. Mrs Eric Rutherford, grey and white shepherd’s plaid costume, worn with a saxe blue silk hat finished off with pale pink. Mrs M Afaster, electric blue costume, grey fu.s and a smart black hat. Mrs Jarajeson, handsome black cloth costume, seal furs aud a black straw hat. Mrs R. Young, navy blue coat and skirt, her black picture hat upturned at one side, being finished off with a peacock blue feather. Aliss Al. Bain, navy blue costume re- i lieved with fawn, her black hat being, elegantly finished off with roval blue leathers. Miss S. Maude, mauve frieze costume, white furs, rose hat adorned with a band of purple ribbon. Airs -J. S.
