WELLINGTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
AN APPEAL FOR FUNDS. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 2. The organisation *of an appeal for funds to proceed with the erection of a new technical school in Wellington is now placed on a definite basis as the result of the appointment of a committee of representative citizens. An appeal issued by the committee reiterates the fact that £15,000 has been granted by the Government and £15,000 by the Wellington City Council. The Government money lias been spent and in addition commitments total £7OOO, an aggregate of £22,000 to date. The council now is provid- . ing £SOOO, but even with that amount the commitments will not be covered. The Government can do no more. Unless the public come forward and help the work must stop. The sum of £12,000 would complete the new building to a stage which would make it fit* for use and the sum of £350 a year for rent would be saved. The committee appeals to the public to provide £6OOO, which will carry a Government subsidy of £6OOO. Mr J. S. Howell and Mr J. S. Swan each have lent £SOO free of interest for three years. Other straight-out contributions received today total £554.
