SCHOOL OF FORESTRY.
CANTERBURY’S CLAIMS. SUPPORTED BY EDUCATION BOARD. Mr P. R. Glimie, the Canterbury Progress League’s organiser, wrote to the Canterbury Education Board today, inv.ting members to take part in a deputation to the Acting-P. ime Minister on July 16. to urge that the Dominion Schol of Forestry should be established in connection with Canterbury College. Mr G. W. Armitage moved that the board heartily endorse the league’s circular and do all in its power to assist in bringing iiressure on the Government to have the Dominion School of Forestry established in connection with Canterbury College. Mr W. A- Banks seconded thr motion, lie expressed the opinion that the st: ongest'possible steps should be taken in order that the School of Forestry should be established in Canterbury. The deputation to Sir Francis Bell could not be too strong and in Ids opinion the chairman and eve; y available member should join in the deputation. He would he attending on behalf of the Farmers’ Union and he hoped other members would make a special effort to be present. The claims oi : Canterbury for the school were so apparent that as far as lie could see Auckland, which was now making such a big fuss, had no claim at all. The Hon J. Grimmond also expressed his hearty support of the proposals. The Board decided to reply to the Ileague stating that it thorough!v cndersed the views contained in the letterregarding the establishment of a School of Forestry at Canterbury College, and stating that the Board would he represented at the deputation to Sir Francis Bell by the chairman and other members. It was also resolved to send a separate letter to Sir Francis Bell expressing the views of the Board on the matter.
