Julv 7. j At the Magistrate's Court to-day j Noel Ashton, aged nineteen, was com-'j mittod for* trial , on a charge of break- | ing and Entering and theft. The circumstances were peculiar. Accused; j was charged that between 3 and 4 a.ni. ; h© broke the window of a girl's bed- j room and tried to drag her through the window, her bed being close to the window. It is alleged that he prilled j out a sheet and two blankets, which* he | carried a few chains and hid in a fence, . that lie returned to the house and, ! meeting the mother of the girl, knocked her down. Male neighbours ; who had been alarmed captured him ! and gave him into custody. The do- \ fence was reserved.
