WHEN WATER IS HARD.

Hard water is not only unpleasant for washing: bat it. is also not economical, as much soap has to be used. Where rain water cannot be secured water can b© rendered beautifully, soft by boiling. This can be carried out at a email expense in the copper seeing that the fire may be formed of any rubbish that will burn- This water will bo found to be as soft as rain water ard excellent for washing- In some cases where the water is very hard it is customary to boil it for drinking purposes in order to get rid of some of the lime. After boiling the water tastes peculiarly flat; this is due to the fact that much of the air has been driven out. Boiled water may be made palatable by pouring backwards and forwards from one jug to another several times.
