THE ENGAGEMENT. W HEN IT WAS ANNOUNCED. All the girls were very interested when the engagement of Joan and Jack was announced. It had come so unexpectedly, but of course, that made it all the more exciting. Joan is a sweet girl and Jack a fine manly fellow, and everyone considered they would make an ideal/couple. Naturally we were all very curious to see the ring. It was simply glorious, a beautiful diamond cluster, the stone flashing rays of light in a manner dazzling to behold. What a lucky girl was Joan to have a ring like that. et Where did you get it from Jack?” we all asked. “ From Jones and Sons, the Manufacturing Jewellers, 278 High Street,” replied Jack. “ I had been reading somewhere that this firm imported the stones direct from England, and that the rings were manufactured by their own expert workmen. I asked one or two friends of mine about Jones and Sons, and thev said they were the best jewellers in New Zealand to go to. So I went and I am glad, for naturally girls, I have been quite interested in rings since, but in no other jeweller’s window have I seen such great value as is in Jones and Sons’.” ‘‘ Well, Jack,” we all replied in chorus, “ if that is so we will buy your Wedding Presents there.”
