UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.

MONTHLY MEETING

' The July monthly meeting of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club was held last evening. Mr H. W llliams (prosident) presiding over a good attonMrs Mills, and Messrs A. G. Mumby and H. F. Herbert, wrote accepting: oi office of vice-patrons and enclosing donations. Messrs J. T. M’Hnrc and H. Beck wrote thanking the club tor their reelection a» vice-presidents, and forwarded a subscript iosi to the club » funds. Mr L. Cocker also wrote congratulating the club on its growth and prosperity and enclosed a. donation. It was decided to thank the donors for their contributionsCorrespondence. was also read trom Messrs F- C. Bfown (Government poultry instructor), C. Jlcnn, .T. Webb, J. Gunn. A. C. Goodiet and W. A. Christensen.

The Management Committee reported that Mr T. Batchelor wished to be relieved oF the office of treasurer, and recommended that his resignation be accepted with regret, and that Mr J. B. Merrett be appointed to the position. The report was adopted. The Supervising Committee of the competition reported that the birds on the whole were looking well and giving a good average yield. Duriug the month of Juno 523 dozen hen eggs, and 56 dozen duck eggs were marked. Owing to the weekly weighing date of the eggs falling on July 2, the committee recommended that the words “July 1 ” m rule 21 bo altered to read “July 3.” The work of apportioning the points for sample of eggs laid by eaoh competitor’s three birds was done in June by Messrs Cussen (Government poultry instructor) and J. H- Shaw, and their report would be laid on the table. The report was adopted. The Educational Committee reported that it had arranged a syllabus for the next five months, including an address by Mr M’Phersou on “ How to grow and feed lucerne, and its value as a food for poultry.” The report was adopted. Two new members were elected.
