THE CINEMA FILM ’TAX

A meeting of film importers, producers and picture showmen protested, against the increased duty on films and decided to approach Parliament to point out the disastrous effect on the picture business unless the duty was relaxed.

SHIPPING POSITION. The shipowners have refused a request made by the meat exporters for a reduction in freights, and have intimated that in view of the scarcity of cargoes some vessels will cease running.
