A students' tea room at Canterbury University College was opened yesterday afternoon. A large number of professors, lecturers, students and otnerß interested were present at the function. The tea room, which As in the top storey of the college physics building, was suitably decorated. Professor Stewart, in a speech declaring the room open, congratulated th&se responsible for the innovation. He said that it would help to bring students together more, and produce community of feeling, as well as serve a useful purpose in providing refreshment. Many of the students found it inconvenient or impossible to get to their homes between lectures for tea. Professor Farr spoke to similar effect. Mr H. L. Lucena replied on behalf of the special committee which established the room, and which consists of Miss N. S. M. Bruce and Messrs Lucena and C. F. R. Bell. The tea room is under the auspices of the Students’ Association, and is open from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
