The Canter’ourv Football Association asked for the use of the night training ground for three nights a week during July to train toe Canterbury team for the coming Brown Shield “Soccer” match against Wellington. The Old Boys Club applied for a ground at Lancaster Park at 1.30 next Saturday foT ■ft match between Old Boys Juniors aud Boys’ High School, in preparation for the annual school fixtures. The application was granted in respect to the west ground. The New Zealand Union wrote, asking the Canterbury Union to appoint managers for th© North and South Island teams during 4 heir stay in Christchurch. Mr W. Maxwell was appointed for the South Islaud team, and Mr C. S. M’Cully for the North Island team. The New Zealand Union, in a circular, stated that, in accepting the entry of Otago High School for the Moascar Cup, it bad decided to count the annual matches between Otago and Wnitaki, and Otago and Christ’s College, as Moascar Cup fixtures. It was decided to call attention to the fact That if Christ’s College did not enter for the cup the fixture could not be counted as a Moascar Cup fixture. The N.Z. Union, replying to iioints raised by Mr W. M. Stewart regarding the Moascar Cup competition, stated (3) that the Maori Agricultural College was admitted to the competition by instructions from the delegates at the annual meeting; (2) that tho rules for this season barred the inclusion of any player who was twenty years of age on March 31; and (3) that tbo provision of extra time in the event of a, draw stipulated for two extra spells of ton minutes each, force-downs during such spells to count oue point. The letter added that the. question of coupling the teams after a drawn gsme instead of playing extra fqiells would be considered next season. One of tho members of the original Moascar team was having an enlarged picture made arid framed, and would forward it. to the Christchurch Boys’ High School as a permanent memento of their being the first holders of the cup in New Zealand. ° The Otago Union wrote suggesting September 24 as the date of the Canterbury match, in view of the alteration of the South African match. The Lancaster Dark Board of Control wrote that, in view of the financiapposition or the hoard, it was impossible t<4**?nake any reduction in the percentage retained by the board for the use of Lancaster Park, but that the matter would be reviewed at the end of the financial year. A grant of £5 was made to the Referees’ Association for the entertainment of the Wellington referees’ team. The Referoes’ Association, at the Teouest of the New Zealand Referees’ Association, forwarded the names of Messrs J. F. Peako, •G. Gray, W. Harman. L. Guiney and J. Weston and the Rev W. R. Scott as members available for interiiroviucial matches. The letter w»<* received, tho president, remarking, that. the New Zealand Referees’ Association had no power to appoint, referees. The New Zealand Union wrote stating that in some instances League players had been allowed to play Rugby without applying for readmission, or while the matter was pending. M’Gillivray) reported that a sum of £478 3s bad been handed to the trustees of tho Aitken benefit fund. Tt was resolved to thank all who had assisted, in benefit matches. The president reported that the utmost enthusiasm was being shown in Rugby in tho country, and a. North v. South match would be played on July 20 ot Christchurch between Hurunui, North Canterbury and Malvern apd Peninsula, Ashburton v. Ellesmere. From this match a team would lie picked to play a. metropolitan team on July 27 al Christchurch. Jt was decided to ask for additional police at Lancaster Park next Saturday, aud also for an augmented tram service. The president reported that the head masters of Christ’s College and Boys* High School had met the union in a very -sporting manner in regard ' to tho annual match, and. while they were naturally, averse to their schools playing for a gate, they had consented to the match being played at Lancaster Park fe>r the next two years, on condition that, the proceeds wero set aside for the encouragement of y>rimary and second«,rv school football, with a proviso that, either team, on applying for a grant, might receive up to a third of the net gat". A vote of thanks was passed to the head mas era for their courtesy. SCHOOLS’ MATCH AT LINCOLN. On Thursday afternoon Ihe Springston South schoolboys journeyed to Lincoln to try conclusions with the local school team. The Lincoln boys proved Tat her too strong, and won by 48 to 3. Tries for Lincoln were scored by Woods (3), Greaves (2), T. Jordan, L. Birch and M. Jordan (5). Six were converted by W. Jordan. ffvimber scored for Springston South. On Saturday afternoon the Lincoln Junior team met the Prebbleton team, which is playing in the Christchurch competitions, r>n the Lincoln ground. Prebbleton proved too strong, and non by 14 points to 3. Tries for the winners were scored by Cooke, Brown and Bingham (2), whilst Downey converted one.
