W. Murray and Miss Murray (Gisborne) will leave this evening lor tho north. Misa Knubley has returned to Timaru after a visit to friends in North Canterbury. Mrs Tennent and Miss I>. Cook aie the guests of Mr and Mrs William Bullen, 44 The Elms,” Kaikoura. Mrs Edgar Stead and Miss Phillip* intend leaving Christchurch shortly on ik trip to H&uolulu. Miss Doris Cracroft-Wilson gave n small dance on Saturday evening at her home at Cashmere Hills. Mr and Mrs Douglas Deans have returned from Australia and gone to their home at Darfield. Mrs C. Kelly, Victoria Street, was hostess last week at an enjoyable afteinoon given for Miss Phyllis Morris, v- ho is shortly leaving Christchurch for Wellington. Miss Dorothea Spinney, who has been in Auckland giving recitals, is now in Wellington, and is expected in Christchurch on July 3. During her stay here she will be the guest of Miss liroiTfloy Cocks. A very well-known Christchurch lady, Mrs J. Monteath, of FoncTalton, wife of Mr J. Monteath, of the teaching staff of Christ’s College. and daughter of Mr W. Dpvenish-Menres, died at the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday alter a short illness. Airs Monteath, who was a clever pianist anti accompanist, was always willing to assist in any good cause. She was prominently associated with St Barnabas 1 Church, Fendnlton, and took a. great interest in the' various church activities, more particularly the Mothers' Union- Sincerest sympathy will be felt for Mr Monteath and his four children. There’s no period of life in which the changes are so rapid, the stages so interesting, or the memory so well worth keeping as the period of childhood. Keep the record in a. photograph.
