RAILWAY CADET ATTACKED.

ATTEMPT TO GET STATION

KEYS. ASSAILANT ESCAPES. (Pep. Press Association! AUCKLAND, June 13. Ellis Cecil Bowbes, a railway cadet, was knocked down in the shed at Tuakau on Saturday night by a man who suddenly sprang upon him and administered two kicks which rendered Bowbes unconscious. On recovering he found himself in the scrub where ho had evidently been dragged by his assailant. Bowbes bad been struck heavily on the neck but not very severely injured. The police traced footprints two miles but lost track of the supposed assailant in the grass. It is presumed that the motive of the assault was to obtain the keys of the. railway station.
