PLAN APPROVED. A design for the erection of new municipal offices on the Manchester Street site was approved by the- City Council last evening. The building will be erected in reinforced concrete at an estimated cost of £29,992. The following offices committee was set up:—Councillors A. M’Kellar, W. H. Winsor, C. P. Agar, H- T. Armstrong and J. A. Flesher. The Mayor (Dr Thacker. M.P.), said that he hoped th© new committee would push ahead so that the loan proposal could come before the ratepayers without further delay. There was urgent need for tho new administrative block, and the clearing up of the old Canterbury jTall site would provide work for a number of unemployed. At the suggestion of Councillor C. W. Hervey, it was resolved to recommend that -the committee should take into consideration the question of erecting a municipal theatre on portion of the site, instead of a municipal concert
