A Government Bill extending The period of military training was negatived bv 207 to 72. Von Sydow, the Premier, said there wore still large States .outside the League of Nations, and that some of those within it, both large and small, were stiJl eager for war. He could not, therefore, take the responsibility of disarming. It might cost, the country its life.
