COAL AND TIMBER SUPPLY. The Canopus is timed to leave this evening for Westport with produce and general The Opus, should have reached Greymouth yesterdai' in order to loud timber for Lyttelton. She should arrive here about Sunday. The Orepuki, from Greymouth, with a load of timber. is due to-day. The vessel will be dispatched v/ith genera! cargo for tko West Coast pert on Friday. The barque Manurewa (327 tons), which arrived at Wellington on Monday evening from Clarence River. N.S.W., with timber, is fitted with a combined wireless telegraphic and telephonic plant. The Ngatoro will bo docked for cleaning and painting. The quantity of coal shipped at Newcastle during the week ending April 9 fox places beyond the State was 77,651 tons, of which 64,660 tons represented shipments for Commonwealth and New Zealand ports, the balance being for foreign porta. The vessel arrived off Lyttelton on Monday, and during Monday night a very trying southerly gale was experienced, which necessitated all hands 4»n dock throughout the night. Captain T. Proctor, of Dunedin, is in command, and has associated with him Mr P. J. Richard as mate and Mr T«. Smith as second mat.-.
