.Mr and Mrs AT. IT Austin (Melbourne) am visiting Christchurch. Mr and Mis F. White (Sydney), who have been in Christchurch for several days, left for the south to-day. Mr and Mrs Al’Furlune (Winchester) came into town yesterday. and are staying at the Clarendon. Miss Gwen Whitcombe lias recently returned to Christchurch after a long trip abroad. Mrs Roskruge (Wellington) is id Christchurch on a \ isit to her daughter, Mr J. G. Collins. Miss Bathgate and Miss Betty Xortheorc (Highfield, AVaiau) came into town yesterday, and are staying at Warner’s. Mrs ,1. S. Thomson, who has been 1 staying with Air and Mrs Hugh Reeves i at Hororata, has returned to her home j ui AVinchester Street. | Airs Francis Fitch. 9, well-known - barrister of Now York, is with her j lather, Air Charles Francis, visiting Christchurch, and staying at tho ; Clarendon. j Mrs Vestey, wife of Mr Vestey. of 'the well known meat, and shipping firm, j and her family arc at present on a tour /through New Zealand. In the South I Island they will visit Mount Cook and; ; the Southern Lakes. The first of a series of weekly dances ( was held in the Art Gallery, under ‘he direction of Alessrs W. F. Honda and H. Taiger, last night, and an enjoyable ovening rewarded those who braved the ( elements. Music for the .dancing was supplied by Alisa MacDonald’s orchestra. \ .Sir Ralph Williams and his niece, jMiss Dean, who have been touring Now Zealand for some time, were the guests «>f Airs T.
