A telegram from Beuthen, an important woollen and earthenware manufacturing centre, in the midst of a mining district in Prussian Silesia, reports that a. strike has occurred among the miners. The latter, who are mainly Poles, are excited over rumours that the German mine-owners intend to blow up the mines in Pless, Ryhnik and Katowitz. i lie strike is regarded as a preliminary measure of Polish occupation of Upper Silesia.
