NEW AEROPLANE TESTED.
D.H.9 FOR BLENHEIM SERVICE.
The first D.H. 9 aeroplane'converted at the Sock burn aerodrome for passenger carrying was tested to-day by Captain Euan Dickson. The test proved satisfactory in every way Mr H. F. Wigram, chairman of directors of the Canterbury Aviation Company, witnessed the trial. Tho D.H. 9 machine is fitted with a 240 h.p. »Siddeley-Puma engine and develops a speed of about 110 miles per hour. The machine tested to-day will be used on the Blenheim mail and passenger service. Tt is fitted with three comfortable passenger seats and lias a snug mail box. Pigeons will he*.carried on the mail service, and Captain .Dickson hopes to make extensive use of them between Christchurch and Blenheim. i A second D.H. 9 machine is now being converted into an aerial limousine and will also he used on the Blenheim service. It will have six side, windows, and the passengers will he able to look out on either side from easy chairs.
