Mr George Ren wick, correspondent of the “ Dailv Chronicle,** writing from Berlin detailing the vast industrial power behind the trusts, says: J lesson lost a fortune and made another even bigger during the war. Tie now employs 125.000 men. His Mulheim works alone cover an area as big as Berlin. Another of the Thysson businesses at Dui«herg is producing 400.000 tons of pig iron per annum. A third, at Oberbilk, is turning out 125.000 tons of steel ct year. The Peter Kloeakner trust is producing ten million tons of coal. The Hoosch New Essen trust is producing seven million tons of coal in addition to half a miPion tons of iron. It mad a loss of 8 500.000 marks in 1918-19. hut a profit of 31 000 000 marks in 1919-20. declaring a dividend of 25 per cent. Krupn’s is just beginning to launch out. hut it turned a Toss of 36.000.000 marks in 1919 into

n profit of 79 000.000 in 1920. This firm now employs 50.000 at Essen, of whom 600 are making cash registers instead of cannon. Krupp’s are also making screws, motor-cars, cameras, boiler plates, locomotives and agricultural machinery.
