ANGLO-JAPANESE TREATY.

W Rowell, Canadian delegate to the League of Nations, speaking in the Canadian House of Commons, said that it might be advisable to terminate the Anglo-Japanese Alliance in order to promote the best relations between the British Empire and the United States, and possibly between Japan and the United States. Mr Rowell expressed the conviction that any difference between the I nited States and Japan would not involve Great Britain. During a discussion regarding the coming Imperial Conference. Sir Robert Borden, ex-Prime Minister, expressed • he opinion that Great Britain would hesitate to engage in any war if strong public opinion in Canada and Australia nos against her doing so.
