A Melbourne cable message states that Mr Hughes, Prime Minister of the* Commonwealth, left yesterday for Adelaide. where he will join a steamer for London. Father Graham, Rector of St Bede’s College, Papanui, has been appointed iVcting-Provincial of the Society of Mary in New Zealand, during Dean Holly’s absence in Europe. Father Kerley, also of St Bede’s, will take Dean Reimault’s place as parish priest at St. Mary’s during the latter’s visit to Europe. Father Diguan, who was in the Christchurch diocese for some wears, and has been in Hawke’s Bay, will return. to Christchurch on Wednesday, to take a position an assistant priest at St Mary’s Manchester Street. Mr W. H. Winsor, who has been elected as an independent to tho Christchurch City Council, was heartily congratulated last eyening by fellow delegates attending a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council.
