IRIDESCENT CLASS.

It is said that this beautiful inanufso fcure originated in some glass works in Bohemia, to which the proprietor was returning after an absence. The- soap-bubble colours ore now produced bv the vapour arising from a mixture ef protochloride of tin. carbonate of baryta, andf carbonate of strontia, which is deposited on the hot gloss before its goes into the annealin'- oven. They can be removed by hard rubbing, The antique irridescent glasses have become so by lapse of time. One firm produced a pearly lustre, like that of shells, by chemical means, including tho use of hydrochloric acid, under pressures of from four to six atmospheres.
