TO REPAIR WORN BLANKETS.

Blankets, like sheets, frequently get very much worn in the middle, and it is almost impossible to darn them successfully. If only one blanket is in this condition the good parts at the side can he made into blankets for children’s cots if the worn part, is cut out and the two sides arc joined by carefully seaming the two selvedges together. A wide blanket used for a double bed will also, iu this way, make, if its best parts are utilised, a useful blanket for a single bed. Where there are two worn blankets a different method may be followed. Place one of the blankets upon a table, and cut Ihe other blanket exactly in half across the centre, and then divide each of these halves in the same way. j This will make four pieces. Take the outer edge of till these pieces and lay them on the uncut blanket so that the good parts aro over tho worn part. Basle all firmly together, and then quilt by hand across the two blankets. Tn this wav ono sound blanket can be made of two that were too worn to be used much longer. If--preferred the whole can he covered with some bright, coloured material before the quilting is clone, and the blankets will, when the whole is quilted together, make a comfortable and bright coloured “ eiderdown ?! for a. children’s bed. These ‘ doubled ” blankets arc very warm and useful, and prove a great economy.
