PRESENTATION TO MR T. LEECH.

13 Y NORTHERN AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

At the monthly meeting of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association held yesterday, Mr Thomas Leech, a past president, was the recipient of a wedding present in the shape of two seagrass chairs and a brief bag. In making the presentation on behalf of tho association. Air R. MMntosli (president) said that the honour of doing so was one of the most pleasing duties that had fallen, to his lot during his term of office. They all knew Mr Leech to hare been one of tlie most energetic presidents that the association had ever bad. Tt had now come to another turning in bis life, and the members of the association could not let such an occasion pass without showing in some small way the manner in which they appreciated Air Leech’s services in the past. Air Leech had been n groat worker for the association, and iL vas not saying too much, with all due respect to other past presidents, that there had never been another president who had done so much for tho association. In presenting Mr Leech with ihw tokens of esteem from the associal ion, he could do no more than express the wish that both Air and Airs Leech would live- long to enjoy the use of the same. Mr AV. A. Banks said that it also gave bin a groat deal of pleasure to lm present. Personally he had known the J/eech family all bis life, and be could not say too much of them. If there were more men of the Leech type in New Zealand to-day. there- would not be the strife existing that t here.was. As a public man. Air Leech had always been to the fore in any work that was to he done in North Canterbury. He bad spent, both time and money to help along the show, and had always shown a. keen interest in the annual gathering. As a friend, no man could wish for a. more loval one.. With all those present be wished Air and Mrs Leech long life and happiness. Mr I. W. Foster. Air J. R. D. Johns and Air James Stevenson nUo paid tributes to Air Leech's qualities and services in tho past.
