The partnership lasted until 74 was reached, when Loveridge (35) was stumped. The ether batsmen, with the exception of II Johnston (25) did not make much showing, and tho innings closed for 173. Tho “Manchester Guardian” is erroneously informed regarding the. covering of wickets, which is done only in interstate, not international, matches. (The “ Manchester Guardian " said that all true cricket lovers were dismayed to read that a.though it rained overnight, the Sydney wicket in the match between England and New South Wales was not affected owing to protection.)
