The Canterbury Industrial Association received last night correspondence relative to the recent Ministerial visit to Lake Coleridge, including a statement of the Minister’s attitude regarding the hydro-electricai works. The president (Mr W. J. Jenkin) said that the statement was very encouraging to the association. Members of the association were affected to an extent not generally appreciated by the public. Manufacturers in the city were held up for want of electric power. Mr A. G. Henderson, president of the Progress League, had sounded the right note in saying, “ If we find the money shall we be able to spend it?” and he should be backed up. He believed that some arrangement in regard to the matter was in the air, but he was not then at liberty to mention it.
