DRIVERS’ DISPUTE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Mr Hiram Hunter did not err "on the side of moderation in his statement re the drivers’ dispute. He assails the Arbitration Court, which he thinks is no good because it does not give all that Mr Hunter asks. Mr Hunter has got an exaggerated idea of the importance of drivers and their place in tho wages scale. Their occupation is not a highly skilled one, and the wages lie suggests are ridiculous. They should be on a par with labourers and tramwaymen. but not above them. '“Tim trouble is that union secretaries !&re too much inclined to demand the time pay for all workmen, irrespective h»; his employment. That principle is V bad one. but it finds a lot of support Vimong people who work with their hands instead of their brains, and who are really unable ■*■© think.—T am, etc., REASON.
