PERSONAL.
Dr G. Redpath, of Wellington, is a visitor to Christchurch. Air J. M’Combs, M.P.. has been on a visit to Ivaitangata and Gore. Air H. 11. Smith, of Greymouth, returned there this morning. Air R. A. Anderson, who has been staying in Christchurch, returned to Invercargill this morning. Mr Ti. Birk-s, chief Government electrical engineer, who is visiting tho West Coast in connection with electric power schemes, will bo asked to inspect and report on ai NoLth. Auckland scheme. Arrivals in Christchurch by the ferry this morning included Messrs J. O Cooper (Masterton), F. G, Harvey and M. V. Fleming (Wellington), G. H. Abel (Auckland) and F- E. Dowell (Dunedin). Sergeant King, who left for Hokitika to-day, to take charge there, commenced his career in the Mount Cook Training Station. Afterwards he was at Lambt-on Quay, Wellington, for six; months, and was then transferred to Manners Street. He wan there for about five years, and then transferred to take charge of Havelock district. About five years later he took charge of the Picfcon. district -Ho then went back to Wellington, as sectional sergeant, for three years. Three years ago he came to Christchurch as a sergeant. Ho was acting-senior sergeant in Christchurch on several ooeasions, including the time of the Prince’s visit.
