A sergeant and a private were killed and seven ethers wounded in an ambush near Thurles. A lorry’ with men of the Northampton Regiment carue to a sharp turn in a road which skirted low hill’s. Suddenly they met a heavy rifle lire from the front flank. The two were killed instantly. The Northamptons alighted and exchanged shots until most of the party were wounded. Lorry forces and military police later scoured the district, but without result.
