WAYS TO REJUVENATE BROOMS AND BRUSHES.
Many housewives discard their old brooms and brushes when they might be created to last, for months. Brooms and brushes made ot stiff bass always become veiy worn all round the edges, leaving the central bass as good as ever, but. it cannot work effectually because the worn part interferes with the action of the broom A Veil wash such brooms and leave them thtf-rougkly io dry, *hen with a pair cf old scissors cut away ail the worn out material. Tho broom will not be so large, but it will do its work properly. Another plan is to wash the broom clean, and after it is dry Lo cut ei' : the -..ass down evenly. If tho worn edges are very matted, Hie bass may all ho worked apart with a metal skewer. Suit e baud brushes become very worn away at one ond, leaving the other end in quite good condition ; tho, handle can. be cut away and the worn bristles removed from the wood, leaving the free wood to act as a new handle. A long broom that is in t bad condition all over may be cleared « s ntnel> ol hair or bristles, and narrow short lengths of cloth, six at a liiue nailed evenly along the wood in as r.mn r-;wR as will entirely fill the broom, winch will then, make an excellent mop for all kinds of work. When dirty, rhe mop-oroom should be washed in strong soda and water. Or, again, an old broom lyay liavo the wood neatly covered with old velveteen and be used as a floor polisher.
